About the Author

My first completed novel, Hunter's Moon, was published January 1st, 2020, by Thinklings Books.

My mom had no idea what she had set in motion simply by reading to her tiny firstborn. By the age of two, I’d memorized all our baby books and had my grandpa thinking I could read already. (I didn’t really read until I was about four.) My third grade teacher hadn’t a clue that her assignment to fill the pages of a blank book with a story would write something on the pages of my life. And I’d keep writing and writing. . . . As a high schooler, I crafted tales of space voyages and teens being sucked into a magical world. I also navigated the halls with my nose buried in a fantasy or sci-fi novel.

But, thanks to bullies and self-doubt, my dream of becoming a published author still seemed fantastical. In college, I joined the newspaper staff, helped manage the literary magazine, and kicked butt in grammar class. Little did I know that I’d go on to become a proofreader someday, sublimating my habit of nitpicking! Neither did I foresee that friends and mentors would open the door to an even greater career path. A year after I graduated, though, I was plunged into fiery trials of mental and physical illness, which lasted for half my twenties and almost extinguished my light and my writing. But I rose from the ashes burning with a new passion. Kindled by kindred spirits, writing skills refined, vision blazing, I am finally seeing my dream of being a published author come true!

I live in Ohio with two hairy guys: my husband, Oscar, and our Shiba Inu mix, Thatcher. Though I write werewolf fiction, on the weekends I moonlight as a vampire.  [RIP Thatcher, 2012 - 2/17/24.]

“A book, too, can be a star, explosive material, capable of stirring up fresh life endlessly, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.” – Madeleine L’Engle

“[I] write because [I] have to. A writer writes not because he is educated but because he is driven by the need to communicate. Behind the need to communicate is the need to share. Behind the need to share is the need to be understood.” – Maya Angelou
