One of the hardest parts of Hunter’s Moon for me to write was the scene when Mel wakes up after her first transformation. The horror of said transformation itself was, believe it or not, easier for me to write than the aftermath! Because the morning after, Mel has much more time to think and process and dwell on what’s happened to her, since her mind is not being wiped away and the pain is no longer all-consuming.

For every book Thinklings releases, we feature an interview with one of its major characters. This week we sat down to chat with Jocelyn ("Jos") Beaumont from Hunter's Moon. Read below to see what main character Melanie's enigmatic friend and housemate had to say. I got interviewed on Pretty-Hot.com and AwesomeGang.com! (The questions/answers are the same except for the last one on each.)
I also answered an interview question for Amazon top book reviewer Darcia Helle. See my answer with her beautiful Instagram picture here. I took a lovely, wonderful vacation to Maine (where my brother lives) from June 27th to July 7th, so I'm still catching up on work stuff and settling back into my normal routine. Will try to put up some vacation pictures here soon! Stay tuned! :) We went to some gorgeous places like Acadia National Park! The Twilight books have the real town of Forks, Washington, as their major setting. My book Hunter’s Moon and its forthcoming sequels have Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, as theirs.
Authors who set their books in real places usually (hopefully!) do at least some research on those locations if they’re not already familiar with them. I haven’t had the chance to visit Wellsboro yet*—I really want to, though—but of course online research is pretty darn helpful. My co-execs at Thinklings and I have been cooking up new marketing strategies for this season of COVID-19 and quarantine. It's kind of a bummer for our authors (and all the authors out there) who are about to have their books published, that they can't do in-person book signings right now. BUT we Thinklings are ever resourceful, and having to change our tack means that our readers benefit!
Hello from my home office in Northern Ohio, where I am safely quarantined . . . and (finally, after a month) getting a bit stir-crazy. Yes, it's happened: even the most introverted people, like me, are starting to feel the effects of isolation!
All right, it’s time to address the elephant in the room. I mean the sparkly vampire in the room.
Before we proceed any further, I would like to say right now that this is NOT a Twilight-bashing post. I’ve been bashed and bullied enough times in my life to deeply realize how awful it is to ever do that sort of thing. Even indirectly. So you can proceed knowing this will not be a negative post. :) This week my biz partners and I had a somewhat amusing conversation about my marketing strategy. Thinklings likes to stay positive, friendly, and fun, but there's one area where we will take a negative stance, because people need to be aware that there's a problem that needs fixing . . . and we're trying to fix it! The problem is in the publishing industry, and on our About Us page you can read about what's wrong and how we're working to solve it.
Man, I sure am posting in here a lot lately!
My "book boost" day yesterday went PHENOMENALLY well, and I've been floating on Cloud Nine!! Wow, I didn't know all this promotion stuff came with being an author! But it's not as difficult as I thought. :) Check out some places that are promoting my book:
